Two from MIAC named to D3football.com Team of the Week

St. Paul, Minn. -- University of St. Thomas senior cornerback Kris Kopp and Hamline University sophomore wide receiver Tim Queck have been named to the D3football.com Team of the Week for the tenth week of the 2009 season.

Kopp-FB
University of St. Thomas senior cornerback Kris Kopp (Woodbury, Minn.) recovered two fumbles and had an interception, and all three turnovers gave the Tommies possession inside the Bethel 40-yard-line in a 19-10 victory that locked up a top-two conference finish and kept alive NCAA playoff hopes for the 8-1 Tommies. Kopp added four solo tackles including a tackle-for-loss on fourth-and-four at the Tommie 25-yard line that turned the ball over on downs. He helped a defense limit Bethel to one TD, 10 first downs and 241 yards on offense. A former quarterback, Kopp has been a defensive starter for two seasons, and St. Thomas is 15-4 in that stretch. On Monday, Kopp became the first Tommie to be named conference Defensive Player of the Week since October 2006.

Hamline University sophomore wide receiver Tim Queck (Annandale, Minn.)
Queck-FB
was placed on the Team of the Week for the second time this season. Earlier this fall, Queck earned the D3football.com honor after racking up 184 receiving yards and an 80-yard TD catch against Augsburg. On Saturday, Queck posted 197 receiving yards on just five catches, including TD catches of 80- and 30-yards in the Pipers' 38-6 win over Macalester. The 80-catch was the only play of that scoring drive, as the Pipers started on their own 20-yard line following a touchback. He also added 64 yards on kickoffs, with a long return of 33 yards. He tallied 261 all-purpose yards in the game. The game puts him first in overall receiving yards amongst MIAC players, averaging 92.1 yards per game. On Monday, he was also named the MIAC Co-Offensive Player of the Week.
